Amazon Associates Commission Rates 2026: Full Category Table and What You Earn

Amazon Associates commission rates for 2026 by category, from Amazon's official table: what you earn on a $100 sale, what $1,000 a month takes, and how to model affiliate income over 5 years.

Amazon Associates pays a fixed percentage of each qualifying purchase, and that percentage depends on the product category. As of October 2026, Amazon's own Standard Commission Income Rates page lists rates from 0% up to 10%, with most everyday categories paying between 1% and 4.5%. This guide lays out the official table, shows what those rates mean in real dollars, and explains how to turn them into a revenue projection for an affiliate site.

All rates below are quoted from Amazon's US Associates help page. Amazon changes this table from time to time, so check the source before you plan around a single number.

Bounties: flat fees instead of a percentage

Amazon also pays fixed "bounties" when a visitor you refer signs up for certain programs. The same help page lists, for example, $3.00 for a Prime Free Trial or paid Prime membership, $30.00 for a Prime for Young Adults trial or paid membership, $2.00 for a Prime Video free trial, $5.00 for a Prime Video first stream, and $0.25 for an eligible Prime Video stream. Bounty terms and amounts change more often than category rates, so treat them as a bonus rather than a base for your model.

How much does Amazon pay on a $100 sale?

Take a $100 qualifying purchase and apply the table:

  • Kitchen (4.5%): $4.50
  • Apparel or Shoes (4%): $4.00
  • Home, Toys, or Sports (3%): $3.00
  • Televisions (2%): $2.00
  • Grocery or Health & Personal Care (1%): $1.00
  • Luxury Beauty (10%): $10.00

The same $100 order can earn you ten times more in one category than another. That is why category mix matters more than traffic for many Amazon affiliate sites.

Can you make $1,000 a month as an Amazon affiliate?

You can work backwards from the rate to see what $1,000 a month needs. These are illustrations, not benchmarks:

  • At a 3% rate (Home, Toys, Outdoors), $1,000 in commission needs about $33,300 of referred sales a month.
  • At 4.5% (Kitchen, Books), it needs about $22,200.
  • At 1% (Grocery), it needs $100,000.

To get from sales to traffic, you need two more numbers from your own analytics: the share of visitors who click through to Amazon, and the share of those clicks that turn into a purchase, plus your average order value. If you do not have your own data yet, model a low, middle, and high case rather than borrowing someone else's conversion rate. Our guide to affiliate RPM by niche walks through revenue per thousand visitors, which folds all of these into one number.

Is Amazon Associates worth it in 2026?

It depends on your niche and how you plan to grow:

  • Good fit: sites where visitors already intend to buy physical products in the 3% to 4.5% bands (kitchen gear, tools, outdoor equipment, books), and where Amazon's checkout trust helps conversion.
  • Weak fit: niches dominated by 0% to 1% categories (grocery, gift cards, health and personal care), or sites whose readers mostly buy high-ticket items you could promote through a direct brand program instead.
  • Risk to plan for: Amazon sets and changes these rates on its own. A site that depends on one program and one category is exposed to a single rate change. Many operators pair Amazon with direct affiliate programs, display ads, or an email list. See our email list monetization guide for one way to diversify.

How to model Amazon affiliate income over 5 years

A single month's commission tells you little. A useful projection ties together:

  1. Traffic growth: monthly sessions, with a realistic ramp as new articles age and rank. Our SEO traffic growth model covers how to set that curve.
  2. Click-through to Amazon: the share of sessions that click an affiliate link.
  3. Purchase rate and order value: from your Associates reports once you have them.
  4. Blended commission rate: weight each category's rate from the table above by your share of referred revenue. A site that is 60% Kitchen (4.5%) and 40% Home (3%) has a blended rate of 3.9%.
  5. Three scenarios: conservative, base, and aggressive, so one optimistic guess does not drive decisions. See three-scenario financial planning.
